Chocolate milk refuels muscles after workouts
Research released in August shows that people who drink chocolate milk after exercise gain more muscle and burn more fat.
During the study, which came out of Canada, participants received one of three post-workout drinks; milk, a soy beverage or a sports drink.
Those who drank milk lost twice as many pounds of fat and gained 3.3 pounds of muscle than those who drank a sports drink. Chocolate milk was almost twice as effective as commercial sports drinks to refuel muscles.
Chocolate milk contains the most favorable carbohydrate to protein ratio, which is essential for helping replenish tired muscles.
