BUILT WITH CHOCOLATE MILK™ Coaches Challenge Underway

High school coaches can win one of five $1,000 athletic grants

ATLANTA – The Southeast United Dairy Industry Association, Inc. (SUDIA) is proud to announce the BUILT WITH CHOCOLATE MILK™ 2017 Coaches Challenge contest. From now until May 12, 2017, school athletic programs and recreational sports leagues have the chance to win one of five $1,000 athletic program grants by submitting a photo or video that shows how your team is “Built with Chocolate Milk.”

Entering the contest is simple: post a photo or video on social media showing your student athletes drinking chocolate milk in the halls, after practice, in the gym, on the field, or after a game. Social media entries can be submitted via Twitter and Instagram using the @Chocolate_Milk tag (Twitter), @BuiltWithChocolateMilk tag (Instagram), or the #CoachChallenge and #promo hashtags. Entries can also be submitted via email

Winning schools or teams can use their $1,000 grant to purchase athletic equipment and uniforms or fund team travel and facility improvements (full rules here). Finalists will be announced May 29 and contest winners will be announced on June 27. A new fall contest will take place between August 14 and Nov. 3.

With more than 20 scientific studies supporting the benefits of recovering with the high-quality protein and nutrients found in chocolate milk, thousands of athletes have adopted chocolate milk as a tool in their recovery arsenal after tough workouts. Miranda Abney, Marketing Director for Milk Processor Education Program (MilkPEP), which runs the BUILT WITH CHOCOLATE MILK™ Campaign, said the Coaches Challenge is a way for the milk industry to support the coaches who support student athletes.

“We want to celebrate these coaches for what they are—an integral group of influencers and role models who are shaping young athletes each and every day,” says Abney. “We’re proud to support their efforts and, through these grants, further their athletic programs’ success and growth.”

School and recreational sports teams are encouraged to get creative. Perhaps employ the school mascot or cheerleading squad. Possibly get the teachers and student body involved. Maybe host a chocolate milk quiz show or chocolate milk rap battle. There is no limit to how your school or team can show how it builds success with chocolate milk.
